/ world today news/ On Thursday, the Metropolitan Municipal Council will announce a competition for a new management of the Center for Urban Mobility, announced the Chairman of the Municipal Council, Elen Gerdzhikov: “These resignations are the result of the crises of confidence in this situation. It is clear to us that without trust, it is impossible to continue the policy of modernization and reforms in public transport in Sofia, which we care about very much”.
While the tender procedure is in progress, the current executive director Simeon Arnaudov will be on leave. Most likely, the position will be filled by Rumyana Milova – current head of the “Parking and Mobility” Directorate.
The management of the Center for Urban Mobility submitted their resignation to the mayor Yordanka Fandakova. She was requested because of a scandal regarding a public contract for the repair of stops, awarded by the municipal company to a company related to the former deputy Irena Kotseva. After a television report, the deputy mayor for transport Lyubomir Hristov also resigned. According to the press center of the municipality, until the deputy mayor for transport in the Capital Municipality is elected, his position will be taken over by some of the relevant deputy mayors who are currently replacing the mayor Yordanka Fandakova in the various directions.
Simeon Arnaudov, Nadia Marinova, Rumen Stoilov, Svilen Krastev, Todor Todorov – this is the composition of the board of directors of the Center for Urban Mobility. Executive director Simeon Arnaudov submitted his resignation on their behalf.
Meanwhile, today the municipal councilors from the BSP submitted to the regional governor of Sofia a request to cancel the new ticket price for public transport, which was increased from BGN 1 to BGN 1.60. Kaloyan Pargov pointed out: “This, of course, does not exclude the guilt of the deputy mayor for transport, because the City Council looks like a buffer, like a fig leaf, like a screen behind which the political leadership of the Metropolitan Municipality hides. We also saw it with the ticket – we don’t offer it, they are offered by CGM”.
Municipal councilors from the Reform Bloc submit a proposal to change the decision of the Metropolitan Municipal Council, which increased the price of the ticket for public transport. Traicho Traikov explained that their position is related to the revealed violations at the Center for Urban Mobility: “I am against the increase, because its effect is the exact opposite of what we want to achieve in Sofia – to have fewer cars, to have clean air cleaner and in Bulgaria, so that a record number of people do not die from respiratory diseases, and we, by increasing the prices of public transport, push in this direction. And here we have to see if everything has been done in the company to issue its financial accounts? There are numerous examples of CGM not coping with its tasks, neither with the management of public transport, nor with the management of paid parking”.
