The song “Vārti” is the third single from the group “Sigma”, which will be released before the opening of the album “Ostination” for concerts at the Latvian Academy of Arts on May 25, 26 and 27. As the song is about six minutes long, the artist Katrīna Neiburga had the opportunity to make a contemporary music short film in which one of the main characters is the actor Igors Šelegovskis.
“The lyrics and mood of the song led to feelings of loneliness, which I often find myself in. The feeling that the whole life is as if behind a glass wall. When you are somewhere on the other side and do not come to reality. And then comes the surprise. Communication with something unknown and I think that the viewer will be able to interpret the story of the meeting of these two characters in their own way.
The author of the song is the poet Kārlis Vērdiņš, who said that “Gates” is one of his most tragic poems, written at a time when he was especially aware of the finality and destiny of human life: “Sigma has turned this poem into an impressive piece of music to listen without recalling the ancient experiences that have become even more emotional in their music. “
The Art Needs Space Foundation is pleased to have responded to Sigma’s call to co-create a short film, “which has resulted in a new work of contemporary art that touches on the subject of human relations with technology and invites people to think about the future of that relationship.”
