The name of the second driver of the burned bus on the Struma Motorway is Kadri Memedi. His son, Besar, told BNT that his father’s body was found in the sleeping ward. He did not drive, but it has not been confirmed.
The son was in Bulgaria to recognize the body and returned home.
His father was 54 years old, with over 20 years of experience. He traveled frequently to Germany and Turkey and knew the routes.
The bus was technically sound, according to his son.
Besar claims that Besa Trans also has a service in Turkey. His father left on Thursday and was already in Turkey on Friday. Kadri called his son from there on Friday. He did not allow passengers with dangerous luggage on the bus – neither with pyrotechnics, nor with fuel. The buses were 3 years old and technically sound.
There is one from the list of survivors of the accident, according to Besar, who is not on the list of “Besa Trans” for travelers – Shadi Naufal Saleh.
Two customs officers were fired after an initial inspection by the Customs Agency showed that they had missed the bus crossing the border into Bulgaria without a permit, and that the bus crossing was not reflected in the system at all.
Even today, the Republic of Northern Macedonia is in mourning for the dead. The relatives expect the bodies of the victims to be transported from Bulgaria.
