As reported by AFP, Wednesday (8/9/2021), the Taliban announced their new government on Tuesday (7/9/2021). Several figures appointed to fill positions in the Afghan government are on the UN blacklist.

Not only that, some of them are important people in the Taliban group. One of them is the founder’s son Taliban Mullah Omar yakni Mullah Yaqoob.

Mullah Yaqoob was appointed by the Taliban group as Afghanistan’s defense minister. Previously Yaqoob was the head of the Taliban’s military commission tasked with overseeing a wide network of field commanders tasked with executing the insurgency.

Then another prominent figure is Sirajuddin Haqqani, who is the head of the feared Haqqani network and also serves as a representative of the Taliban. Sirajuddin aka served as Minister of the Interior of Afghanistan.

Shortly after the announcement of the new government, Hibatullah Akhundzada, the top secretive leader of the Taliban made his first statement since his movement took over Afghanistan, saying that the new government would “work hard to enforce Islamic rule and sharia law”.
