Moreover, this virus is the main factor in the development of cervical cancer – 99 percent of cases. HPV is transmitted sexually. According to Eckert, up to 80 percent of women were infected with it at various times.

“If we can prevent HPV infection, we can prevent cervical cancer. That’s why we have the HPV vaccine. When given to girls aged 12-13 (before they are exposed to the virus), it prevents a staggering 90% cases of cervical cancer,” said the doctor.
