The principle is simple: anyone can offer a trip (free of charge or for a supervised financial contribution) for the benefit of patients, their caregivers or companions, via the dedicated smartphone application or website: covoitsante.fr.
It is possible to search for a trip without creating an account. In contrast, it is necessary to register to validate the first tripwhich then makes it possible to integrate the community.

The idea of covoit’santé germinated seven years ago in Agen, in the mind of Dr. Xavier Cuvillier, urologist surgeon.
“Not everyone has access to the care offered by Health Insurance. A 70-year-old patient can have three distinct pathologies, which requires, at the very least, around ten annual visits to specialists, when d ‘others prefer to give up care’.

He humbly acknowledges that the project has not had the expected success among the patients of his Agen clinic. Among the pitfalls of the system that should be corrected, let us mention the case of a transported person who benefits from a one-way trip, but not necessarily a return trip…
In the medical desert of Loiret, “it is sometimes an expedition, an obstacle course to come to the hospital”according to Serge Grouard, mayor of Orléans.
“We have been promised for twenty years the opening of sections of railway; the bus lines are currently failing”, outbids Marc Gaudet, president of the Department. This shows that the Loire mobility dossier still has progress to make.
Experimentation for two years: cost 115,000 euros
Firstly, the CHRO and three of its nursing homes (Pierre-Pagot, Écureuils and Bois-Fleuri), as well as the Jeanne-d’Arc site in Gien and the hospital in Gien, are served by covoit’santé. At the end of the two-year experiment, the project promoters are hopeful of adding the hospital structures of Pihiviers, Neuville-aux-Bois then Montargis, Beaugency, Sully, Beaune-la-Rolande, etc.
For now, start a two-year experiment. The budget reaches 115,000 euros. It benefits from the support of Novartis pharma (40,000 euros), the Region (20,000 euros), Orléans Métropole (20,000 euros) and the Department (8,000 euros).
