The social centers for the elderly reopen their doors | Radio Murcia | Present

The resumption of the face-to-face activity and the provision of services in the social centers for the elderly dependent on the IMAS will reach almost 91,000 users throughout this week, it will be done following the contingency plans adopted in accordance with the health guidelines public.

A mobile unit of Radio Murcia has confirmed the joy of retirees when recovering one of those spaces, the social center for the elderly in Santa María de Gracia known as Murcia II, which has 8,000 users.

The Tai Chi, Mindfulness or theater workshops have returned there, and, one of the activities that makes them most excited, excursions. Rosa Martínez, president of the participation council of this center, tells us that they have already begun to plan them, starting with the three that were pending due to the declaration of the state of alarm.

Dolores Sastre and María Cristo, two regular users, have told us that the activities of this center give them life and that all the workshops are important.

For his part, the director of the center, Basilio Camacho, has detailed to us how they managed to maintain contact with users during confinement and how they organized to carry out most of the workshops electronically or through social networks. “We were able to continue with the guitar and sevillanas classes via whatsapp,” he explained.
