UpdateThe Smashing Pumpkins are looking for a new guitarist after the departure of Jeff Schroeder. The application procedure is completely open. Anyone who is interested can register. The American alternative rock band has announced this. “Applicants can send a resume and associated materials,” the band writes in a short vacancy on social media.
Schroeder announced in October that he was leaving The Smashing Pumpkins. “Although it was a very difficult decision, I have decided to leave the band to make some space to explore a different path,” he wrote on Instagram.
Founded in Chicago, The Smashing Pumpkins were one of the most popular guitar bands of the 1990s. In the wake of Nirvana and Pearl Jam, they made a name for themselves with albums such as ‘Siamese Dream’ and ‘Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness’. The group disbanded around the turn of the century, but Corgan relaunched his band in 2006.
Since then, Jeff Schroeder has been part of The Smashing Pumpkins. He replaced original guitarist and co-founder James Iha at the time. When Iha rejoined the band in 2018, Schroeder stayed.
