The Smart brand, famous for very small city cars, is entering a new segment, the middle class, and in 2025 it will bring to Europe an electric SUV that will become the largest model and most powerful in history.

The SUV designed by Mercedes in Germany is called “smart #5” (hashtag 5), will be produced in China and will appear in several markets in Asia towards the end of this year. The model will be launched in Europe next spring, and the cars will reach customers in the summer of 2025.

There will also be a version with all wheel drive and the most affordable model is estimated to cost more than 40,000 euros. The car is the largest smart to be launched, measuring 4.7 meters long. For comparison, the small smart forty is 2.74 m long, and the new #1 smart is 4.3 meters long.

The price of the #5 in Europe will largely depend on what EU officials decide in November on the customs duties to be imposed on cars made in China.
