Many are accustomed to the fact that the cars used by law enforcement officers in most countries of the world are designed for speed, which allows them to quickly catch up with criminals. But this state of affairs is not always the rule.
Daily-Motor.Ru has compiled the TOP of police cars in 2023 that cannot boast of high speed performance.
Ford Mondeo (Ireland)
One of the most common police vehicles in Ireland. The car, equipped with an economical plug-in hybrid power plant, cannot boast of high dynamics. It accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in just 9.2 seconds.
Mitsubishi Delica (Taiwan)
The eighth place in this TOP is occupied by a very roomy, but by no means the fastest minivan, better known for its off-road characteristics than speed.
The turbodiesel, paired with all-wheel drive, allows it to accelerate from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in exactly 10 seconds.
Toyota Hilux (Nigeria and Guatemala)
The most popular police vehicle in Nigeria and Guatemala is the famous Japanese pickup truck from Toyota. The car is not designed for fast driving and accelerates from zero to hundred in just 10.2 seconds.
Lada Vesta (Russia)
The brainchild of AvtoVAZ is not only the flagship of the Lada brand, but also one of the most frequently used cars by the local police.
In the most productive version to date (Sportline), using engines from Granta Sport, such 4-doors accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 10.2 seconds.
Toyota Corolla (Philippines and Thailand)
Another police car with modest dynamic characteristics is the Toyota Corolla, which is used to patrol the streets of the Philippines and Thailand.
It takes as much as 10.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, which puts law enforcement officers in an uncomfortable position in front of criminals.
Opel Astra (UK)
Sold in Foggy Albion under the Vauxhall brand, the Astra hatchback has extremely modest dynamics for being a police car, but it is one nonetheless. Even despite the “ridiculous” acceleration from zero to 100 km/h, which takes 10.6 seconds.
Dacia Logan (Romania)
Romania reveres the local automotive industry, which is why the country’s police officers drive modest Logan sedans. In order to reach a speed of 100 kilometers per hour when starting from a standstill, it takes the patrolmen a long 12 seconds.
Chevrolet Cruze (Singapore)
Silver in this rating went to the well-known 4-door Chevrolet in Russia. The American sedan driven by police in Singapore takes a whopping 12.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. Unconditional second place.
Renault Duster (Colombia)
As for the slowest police car in the world, it can rightfully be called the Dacia Duster crossover used by Colombian patrolmen. In order to accelerate this car to a speed of 100 kilometers per hour, the police have to wait an endless 12.6 seconds.
