Readers will forgive us for the quality of the photographs published. But these dark shots manage to best convey the “slap” that the Municipality of Salernohas been paying tribute to residents, traders and customers of the neighborhood for some time now Tower. In the “zipper” district between the eastern area and the center of the city, in fact, darkness falls at a practically rhythmic pace: the public lighting they go down, without anyone doing anything. It also happened on the day of All Saints’ Day when, at sunset, many people were still on the streets: large groups, returning from a walk on the seafront or in the centre, or heading to Piazza Giancamillo Gloriosi (where, fortunately, the street lights were working) for the attractions of the fair set up on the open space that is the symbol of the city. Among them also many families, often accompanied by prams with newborns on board, forced to make emergency solutions to avoid stumbling or encountering unexpected obstacles due to the darkness: no one used candles but it was close given that many of them seen forced to take their smartphone and activate the flashlight to illuminate their path.
In the dark
On the evening of November 1st, the stretch of the “national” and the neighboring side streets that remained in the dark was truly very large: streetlights that had been off since the start of the Angelucci barracks and then continue up via Posidonia for over a kilometer given that the systems were only operational again starting from the intersection with via Granozio. Elsewhere, however, darkness reigned.
