The sky will clear today. An orange code for heavy rain and thunderstorms has been announced in 10 regions of the country for October 5. This was announced by the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) on its website.
The warning is valid for the regions of Blagoevgrad, Veliko Tarnovo, Vratsa, Gabrovo, Lovech, Pazardzhik, Pleven, Ruse, Sofia region, Targovishte. Between 35 – 65 mm of rain is expected to fall in these places. There will be thunderstorm activity in some areas.
In 13 areas of the country, a yellow code has been announced for heavy rainfall, and in 11 of these areas there is also a warning for thunderstorm activity.
Rainfall amounts between 20 and 35 mm are expected in Vidin, Kardzhali, Kyustendil, Montana, Pernik, Plovdiv, Razgrad, Silistra, Sliven, Smolyan, Sofia city, Stara Zagora, Shumen.
According to the NIMH forecast, a cold atmospheric front will pass through the country on Saturday. Cloudiness over the eastern regions will also increase, it will be significant and there will be rain showers in many places.
The precipitation will be local, temporarily intense and significant in quantity during the day in Western and Central Bulgaria, and in the evening and on the night of Sunday – in Eastern Bulgaria as well.
There will also be thunderstorms as the front passes from west to east. In the northwestern regions, the wind will be oriented from the west-northwest and will be weak to moderate; in the rest of the country it will be from the south-southwest – moderate, temporary and strong. The maximum temperatures will be from 19°-20° in the western regions to 29°-30° in the eastern regions, in Sofia – around 19°-20°.
