“František Vaculík has resigned from the head coach. He will finish the season and we want him to stay in a position at the jump,” said Janda, who as the only Czech jumper 15 years ago won a large crystal globe for the overall winner of the World Cup.

Due to problems with the knee, the domestic number one Roman Koudelka practically did not jump and believes in his return after ligament surgery. Of the others, only two were among the thirty in the World Cup. Viktor Polášek is in 64th place with four points and Čestmír Kožíšek has two points and is still in 72nd position, but he can still improve it next week at the World Cup finals during the flights in Planice, Slovenia, where he will go as the only Czech jumper.

“Unfortunately, the education of young people has been neglected here in twenty years, and we are reaping the benefits,” said Janda, who has been leading ski jumpers since April 2018. Koudelka, it will be bad. The worst preconditions have now come true. Although we have junior world champion Polášek, unfortunately we are not able to draw a spark from him at the moment. “
Next year is the Olympic Games in Beijing and the team will try to pick up a new coach by the season. The question is whether he will be from the Czech Republic or from abroad. “We are looking in all directions, but the season is not over and we do not know who is free in the market,” said Janda.

The financial possibilities of the section will also be a factor. Due to poor results, there is less interest from sponsors and companies are also saving due to the coronavirus crisis. “A foreign coach is not a cheap affair. We have to sit down and make a financial plan and then we will decide,” Janda said. And he hoped that there would be an improvement anyway. “I believe that where we have gone, that it is a complete bottom and that we must bounce back from it,” he stated.
The jumpers are looking for a new coach again after a year. Vaculík took up the position last April. Before that, they were led by David Jiroutek and after his January appeal until the end of winter by Antonín Hájek. The last foreign coach was the Austrian Richard Schallert.
