This year, the Dunakesz high school celebrates its sixtieth birthday, which has proudly borne the name of the famous poet Miklós Radnóti for many decades. The bell rang for the start of the new academic year for 780 students in 22 classes of the educational institution, which has accumulated so many national and county academic successes and boasts excellent college and university continuing education indicators.
The start of the ceremonial opening of the academic year was a nice touch of color – attended by Csaba Dióssi, the mayor of Dunakeszi, deputy mayor Zoltán Erdész and many parents – when “high school students” took the hands of the “high school students” and led the students who had been admitted to the Miklós High School in Radnót into the hall surrounded by the students’ wreath.
Principal István Nyiri greeted the students, the faculty members – including their 9 new colleagues – and the parents accompanying the junior high school students with kind words. He thanked the city government for the support provided to the educational institution, and expressed his joy that they will be able to start the 2023/24 school year in a renewed and beautified building.
Emphasizing the importance of learning and going to school, he said that once upon a time – as he put it – “going to school was not always compulsory, in fact learning to write, read and count was considered a privilege, only the wealthiest families could afford it, even half a century ago also before. Even today, the organization of education is still a task in many countries of the world.”
In the life of our school, this beginning of the school year is a real celebration with capital letters – declared István Nyiri, and then he continued: “Sixty years ago, the high school started operating, sixty years ago, children sat down here in Dunakeszin for the first time. Previously, those who wanted to study had to travel to Budapest or Vác. The first students are now grandfathers and grandmothers, and perhaps their grandchildren are attending and studying here among you. The school spans generations and represents both knowledge and culture in the city.”
As it was said: “In sixty years, the small rural high school that started with a single class has grown to a large size.” Today, in 22 classes, 780 of you could learn between the walls and prepare for university and college. And the school is no longer a simple rural high school, it is among the best in the country.”
The director also said that they would like to make the high school’s sixtieth birthday memorable with a high-quality celebration in November.
He separately greeted the junior high school students, the students of the two new classes and the two class teachers, Éva Farkas and Mónika Omischel.
Students from two classes from the high school classes took part in the opening ceremony of the school year, whom he greeted with great affection as well as the two class teachers, Antal Krix and Krisztina Zámbó Hegyiné.
Addressing the students, he said: “I hope that in the coming years you will find your place in the school community, get involved in the blood circulation of the high school, and graduate as real Radnótis students. I wish you to continue your studies successfully and finish them successfully”, was the good wish of the director.
István Nyiri greeted his colleagues who received the jubilee award, who were celebrated with a big round of applause by the students:
25th anniversary: Hedvig Ábrahám, Orsolya Burjánné Török, Zoltán Éles, Gabriella Kiss
30th anniversary: Szilágyiné Melinda Manasses
40th anniversary: Mariann Lajtai, Zoltán Gál
After the awards and congratulations, István Nyiri, the principal of Radnót Miklós High School, solemnly opened the 2023/24 school year. “I wish everyone a successful and productive school year. Be open to the new, be inspired by the desire for knowledge and the will to do. For this, I wish the current school community great success and a successful school year!” – were the words of the director.
