Situbondo (ANTARA) – Commission IV DPRD Situbondo, East Java, asked the local Health Service to act quickly to tackle the outbreak of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), which has now spread in 16 districts.
“We encourage health workers, starting from the Health Service to health centers spread across 17 sub-districts, to act quickly to deal with this case of dengue fever,” said Head of Commission IV DPRD Situbondo H Lukman in Situbondo, Wednesday.
According to him, the 86 cases of dengue fever from January to February 2023 is not a small number, so the Health Service needs to take it seriously by making various efforts.
One of them, said Lukman, is fogging in endemic areas to eradicate adult mosquitoes, as well as educating the public to maintain cleanliness in their homes and their surroundings.

Apart from that, he continued, people must also be given an understanding of the importance of implementing 3M, namely draining water reservoirs, closing water reservoirs, and reusing objects (used cans) that have the potential to become mosquito breeding grounds, and using topical mosquito repellents.
“The application of 3M plus is an effort to inhibit the breeding of mosquito larvae in used cans and containers that are easily flooded during the rainy season,” said Lukman.
Data from the Situbondo District Health Office stated that the highest number of cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) were spread in four sub-districts, namely Mlandingan, Arjasa, Besuki, Panji and Panarukan.
Of the 86 cases of DHF (previously stated 88 cases) from January to 20 February 2023, Mlandingan Sub-District has the highest distribution of Aedes aegypti mosquito virus infection, namely 19 cases, followed by Arjasa 9 cases, Besuki 9 cases, Panji 8 cases and Panarukan 7 cases and scattered in 11 other districts.
Previously, Hospital Management dr. Abdoer Rahem, Situbondo Regency, noted that from January to mid-February 2023, as many as 84 patients with dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) underwent hospitalization, one patient (a 3 year old toddler) of whom died.
