The Covid activity remains contained at the Sarreguemines hospital, relatively spared during the second wave. This Friday, 19 patients are hospitalized, including three in intensive care, against six on Wednesday. The establishment has deplored three deaths in the past two days.
The positivity rate for PCR tests has doubled in one week and stands at 5%. Around a hundred samples are analyzed every day by the laboratory of the hospital center. Positive cases are systematically sent to a specialized laboratory and subjected to the screening method to detect the presence of a variant of the coronavirus. Two tests were positive for the South African variant.

Two operating theaters closed on Monday
In services, the pressure is growing. Several Covid patients, coming from Forbach, have been transferred to Sarreguemines. Non-Covid activity is also very dense. The hospital is almost full. There is little room for maneuver to cope with an influx of patients.
To anticipate an increase in Covid admissions, two out of five operating theaters will be closed as of Monday, February 15. The staff will be redeployed, especially in intensive care, where the capacity of 14 beds (instead of 8 normally) could quickly rise to 21.
Other beds could also be closed in the wards to take care of Covid patients.
