As cinemas gradually resumed operations, allowing indoor screenings to be attended with a valid Covid-19 certificate, visitors are generally sympathetic to such a requirement, although they also had to face a negative reaction from some residents, representatives of the surveyed cinemas told LETA.

Indra Strode, the director of the Cinamon cinema, admitted that not all screenings have been redeemed yet.
“We have to start with the fact that Latvia currently has a real summer not only in terms of the season, but also in the weather, and people choose to relax and enjoy their time outdoors. Also, of course, some of the potential viewers do not go to the cinema at the moment, due to the limitations of cultural events, ”said Strode.
At the same time, she emphasized that the visitors of “Cinamon”, who have decided to come to the cinema, are very understanding at the entrance gate.
“We have encountered relatively few negative attitudes in person. Most likely, the negativity comes mainly from potential customers who do not agree with the current restrictions. However, it is worth remembering that cinema, as representatives of the cultural industry, performs its work in accordance with the regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers and does so with the clearest conscience, ”said Strode.
Cinamon employees also try to help and communicate with people who need advice on current regulations and help with solutions that could allow them to go to the cinema.
“We are also tolerant of customer comments, as we are aware that the situation is ambiguous,” added the head of Cinamon.
She also noted that Cinamon, for its part, has made sure that customers are as informed as possible about the restrictions, which also helps communication to be more successful from the start.
Strode also said that during the period when Cinamon was closed, all employees of the cinema were idle, but have now returned to work.
Meanwhile, the director of the cinema “Splendid Palace” Ieva Sīpola said that the indoor screenings “Splendid Palace” resumed on July 1, allowing people with a valid vaccination or disease Covid-19 certificate to attend. Impressions for persons without such a certificate, but with a negative Covid-19 test, are not held.
“Currently, we are satisfied with the visit and are even a little surprised,” said Sīpola.
At the same time, she admitted that there have been cases where people have bought cinema tickets online but have not been admitted to screenings because they have not been vaccinated or ill, although information about the need for the relevant certificate has been made public.
“In our case, tickets can only be purchased” online “, and then there have been some cases when they have not read their information and the screening cannot be attended,” said Sīpola.
According to her, even in these cases, people are mostly understanding, and such situations have been resolved peacefully. Also on social networks, Splendid Palace mostly receives questions about the availability of tickets and specific movies. Sīpola was informed of only one case when the cinema received a letter on social networks from a person who was not at peace with the conditions for attending the indoor screenings of “Splendid Palace”.
Sīpola also pointed out that the future supply and number of impressions will depend most directly on the demand of the population. “When we decided to resume work, of course, we had no idea what it would be like now. Will people want to come, will they want to come in the summer, or will they not be afraid to come and so on. Of course, future demand will also dictate supply, ”said Sīpola.
She also found that Splendid Palace staff have been vaccinated and are allowed to serve visitors.
It has already been reported that from June 15, those vaccinated against Covid-19, those who have the disease and those who have received negative tests can attend public events more widely, while children under the age of 12 will not have to take the test to attend events with their parents.
