the situation continues to improve in the Loire

“The epidemiological indicators of Covid-19 continue to decrease and reach levels equivalent to those of the release of the second confinement”. The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regional health agency, in its weekly epidemiological update (published Thursday, May 13 due to the Ascension Bridge) notes the continuous improvement in the health situation, like the rest from the country.

In the Loire, if the positivity rate of the tests is higher than the other departments of the region, except Haute-Loire, it is down compared to the previous week (7.2% against 9.6%).

The incidence rate in the department is also higher than in the rest of the region (except, once again, in Haute-Loire). It was, on May 11, 246 per 100,000 inhabitants, against 283 per 100,000 on May 5, and continues to decline. It is 181 per 100,000 region-wide. 1,881 people were infected with Covid-19 over the period. 2,162 had been the week before, a weekly drop of 281 contaminations.

29% of the departmental population, or 221,894 Ligériens, received the first dose of the vaccine against Covid-19. 106,863 people, or 14% of the population, are fully vaccinated (11.6% last week).

56 fewer hospitalizations

This Thursday, 484 people were hospitalized because of the Covid in the Loire, against 540 a week earlier. 67 are in intensive care, 13 less than on May 6. 21 new deaths have been recorded in hospitals in the Loire Valley, for a total of 1,309 since the start of the pandemic.
