“Brothers and sisters” – Important news in the Catholic world. As anticipated by Future, the most important change will involve the addition of the word “sisters” to “brothers” in the prayers. During Masses, it will then be said “I confess to Almighty God and to you, brothers and sisters”, but also: “And I beg the ever-blessed Virgin Mary, the angels, the saints and you, brothers and sisters”.
Invocations in Greek – The new Missal will prefer invocations in Greek such as “Kìrie, eléison” and “Christe, eléison” over the Italian “Lord, have mercy” and “Christ, have mercy”.
The Glory – News also as regards the Gloria, which will have a new formulation: “Peace on earth to men loved by the Lord” instead of “men of good will”, becoming more faithful to the original Greek version of the Gospel.
The Our Father – As for the Our Father, the modification, already introduced in other languages by various episcopal conferences, will also arrive in the Italian version: we will no longer say “do not lead us into temptation” but “do not abandon us to temptation”.
