The fifth edition of the Light Festival in Ghent will start next week. Spread over the entire city from the center to the Lievekaai and the Ham, you can admire various light artworks. Construction is in full swing this week.

For the fifth anniversary, popular artworks from previous editions will be brought back, such as the ‘The big fire that never happened’. This time it will not set the Belfry Tower on fire, but the Sint-Niklaas Church. Then a test caused a storm of panic reactions.

History repeats itself. Because on Wednesday, the installation was tested and it caused a bit of unrest on social media. “St Nicholas’ Church is on fire,” appeared on Facebook and Twitter. It quickly became clear that it was a false alarm. A successful test of the installation already.
