The Printemps des collégiens program benefited a fourth grade class in Cham (music) and Chad (dance) to deepen an artistic practice. Music, dance, plastic art and singing took part with Obi as a guest.
Obi, Obinna Igwe by her real name, already has an impressive career. He fled his country plagued by violence to travel through several countries and end up in France for a year and a half in Lyon. At the end of a ten-year journey.
Born in the region of Biafra, of Igbo origin, at the same time poor, Obi, aged 34, still has no papers and even went to prison in Switzerland for this reason. But, luckily, Obi has music as his travel baggage.
His first intervention in a college
He meets the musician Cédric de la Chapelle who plays his songs to the producer Olvier Boccon-Gibod. All three came to the College Victor-Hugo. In order to use his experience, Obi crisscrosses France with his residency project called Positive Migration.
But it is the first time that he intervenes five days in a row in a college. Twenty-five students, 13 in Cham and 12 in Chad were able to work on the theme of migration and some students spoke of their family cases on this point which they had not done until now.
In the Cham room, Obi supports Clara who has written a song in English but who does not feel like singing on her own. Headphones on, they listen to the sound that was put in place at the start of the week. “I have the impression of listening to American rap”, enthuses Philippe Martin, an English teacher who took the headphones.
The students each sing to the same song or to a different one. In the other room, the college students mold their bodies in motion and then hang them with bits of song lyrics. Everything is done in joy and calm.
This year has been a bit complicated, the students have known each other for three years, are in their teens but this project saves everything ”, indicates again Philippe Martin who is the teacher of the Cham class and Chad and Isabelle Heitz, teacher of musical education.
First part of Ayo and invited by Gaël Faye
So Obi does his best to show how to sing. He who loves Angèle, Niska, Damso or even Booba, will release his first album in the fall. “It’s the realization of a dream because music has carried me for a long time. There will be rap, afro, pop, the music comes as it is, ”he likes to say.
The icing on the cake, Obi will be the first part of Ayo’s acoustic concert at Noirlac Abbey on Thursday, June 24. “I only know her by name but this will be my first concert. I should sing eight to nine songs. There will be emotion, ”he confides.

It remains to be seen whether the students and teachers will be able to attend this first part while the health constraints reduce the gauges.
The same day, Gaël Faye invites him to share the stage of the Palais d’Auron, the time of a song. Suffice to say that he will remember this Thursday, June 24.
A restitution took place Thursday with an exhibition of all the works carried out this week whether in terms of sounds, songs, plastic art but also dance.
