The Sims has a serious rival: it’s called inZOI, it aims for hyperrealism and you can now design your character for free

The reign of The Sims (which is already looking towards its fifth installment) has been overwhelming in the life simulation genre. The few rivals it has had have disappeared even in the middle of development, como Life by You. Now it’s Krafton’s turn. The giant behind PUBG has shown in depth what inZOI looks like, which aims to dethrone the success of Electronic Arts. As part of Gamescom 2024, the publisher has published a free demo on Steam with which to test its hyper-realistic character editor in depth. It will be available until August 26.

This is inZOI, the ambitious life simulator from the creators of PUBG

The character creator, which you can access from this linkgoes beyond its graphics based on Unreal Engine 5. In the final part we can touch on its system of traits and personality, with which they seek to give players ample tools to build the virtual person they want to be.

Its creators claim that the game has been developed with one idea in mind: “Are you living the life you want?” This game is here to fill the gaps left by real life. In a press release, they explain one of its star mechanics, the community simulation. They promise that we will be able to “decorate more than 200 locations” while a bunch of characters show their reactions and live their lives throughout the playable area.

“Our goal with inZOI is to create a world where creativity knows no boundaries, and where every decision leads to a new and surprising experience,” says Hyungjun Kim, producer and director of the game. There is no release window yet, but the ambition is boundless with this project.
