Vincent is saved by Pierre (Grégory Gadebois). The taciturn loner, who lives in isolation on a farm in front of a dreamy mountain backdrop, picks up Vincent on his motorcycle and has to play grumpy host for the next few hours. Maybe a little too good. He is soon confronted with perhaps the most important question of all: Is he actually happy? With Pierre, Vincent sees personified harmony with nature – and suffers panic attacks. He realizes that he needs a break from high-performance life – and he already has an idea of where he would like to spend it – and with whom…
After his huge success “Pear Cake with Lavender” and the cinematic delicacy “Á la Carte”, director Éric Besnard returns with a great and extremely light-hearted comedy, in which Grégory Gadebois (“À la Carte”) as a nature-loving hermit and Lambert Wilson (“ Matrix: Reloaded”) shine as an urban workaholic. Set against a dreamy mountain backdrop, “The Simple Things” tells of a special friendship, the healing effects of summer country air and the happiness that can be found away from the densely networked city life – in the simple things.
