Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia It hasn’t been released yet, but there have been many leaks circulating about the features that will be present on the iPhone 15. One of them is a feature that can make the SIM card “apocalypse”.

The iPhone 15 and 15 Pro duo reportedly will no longer provide a SIM card slot. This is known from information on a French website.

If true, this means that the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro will really rely on the eSIM feature. Quoted from MacRumors, Friday (31/3/2023), it is possible that the absence of a SIM card slot also applies to products that are released globally.

The reason is, eSIM or electronic SIM has indeed become a trend lately. Even all operators in Indonesia now support eSIM.

It seems that soon people won’t have to deal with physical SIM cards.

So far, we have known SIM cards in the form of nano-SIM. Usually we have to enter or inject the card on the cellphone to replace it with another operator. Meanwhile eSIM has a different usage.

Launching the Apple page, eSIM can activate packages without using a nano SIM. Users only need to scan the barcode to use it.

Apple writes that users can install 8 or more eSIMs on an iPhone. Users can also use two active phone numbers at the same time.

eSIM can be used on several cellphones, including iPhone 11 to iPhone 14. Meanwhile for Android it is available on a number of Samsung, Huawei and Oppo cellphones.
