Liman served as the logistics and transportation hub for Russian military operations in the northern Donbass region, and the loss of the city will be another blow to Russia’s aggressive war plans.
“Limana is important because it is the next step in the liberation of the Donbass of Ukraine. It gives the opportunity to move to Kreminna and Severodonetsk, and this is psychologically very important,” added Chrevaty.
He claimed that the Russians had between 5,000 and 5,500 soldiers in the Liman group, but some of them have already fallen and some may have managed to escape encirclement.
Some of the surrounded soldiers continue unsuccessful attempts to get out of the siege.
“Some give up. They have many killed and injured, but the operation is not over yet,” Chrevaty said.
