It has been several months since the application of the third dose of the covid-19 vaccine began. Ecuador began vaccination with a booster dose against the coronavirus on December 1, to the entire population already vaccinated. It is expected that the percentage of people vaccinated will continue to increase.
Although the vaccine allows to counteract the effects of the virus, it can also cause side effects in patients. Just as it had already happened with previous vaccines.
The secundary effects
In general, and as reported by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the application of the third dose of the Pfizer vaccine generates in most cases fatigue, headache, and muscle pain.
For their part, the EMA and the WHO also detail among the most likely side effects of the application of the third dose with Moderna the tiredness, headache and fever.
The WHO details that like all medications, these can cause side effects, which disappear spontaneously within a few days.
According to Lehigh Valley Health Network, the studies that have been done on the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine show that it is safe and that it is possible to have mild to moderate symptoms similar to those of the first doses. No patient has had critical side effects requiring hospitalization. (I)
