It will offer six films, selected by the program department of the KV IFF, in 38 cinemas from Brandýs nad Labem to Zábřeh. As in the previous year, each film will be shown only once in the participating cinemas, on the same day and time.

The show will be officially opened on Tuesday, November 30, at 5 pm by the premiere of Helena Třeštíková’s new film René – Prisoner of Freedom, which the director uses to build on her raw authentic portrait of René from 2008. The debate from the Prague Svetozor will be broadcast live to the participating cinemas and all spectators in the cinemas will be given the opportunity to send their questions via the special Slido application.

Coupe No. 6 and Benedetto

The traditional Karlovy Vary Horizons section will be represented in the program by three films that were presented for the first time in the main competition of this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The Grand Jury Prize went to the Finnish film Coupe No. 6 by director Juhu Kuosmanen, who has been a friend of the Karlovy Vary festival for many years. The film Coupe No. 6 will be shown on December 1 from 5 pm, after the screening there will be an online interview with the director.

Another film awarded in Cannes will be the long-awaited historical erotic drama by Paul Verhoeven Benedetto, which will also enter the show Tady Vary
Czech distribution. The worst man in the world will be closed by director Joachim Trier, who will be on the program on December 2 from 8 pm. This film will also be accompanied by an online interview with the director after the screening.

All three discussions moderated by Karel Och will be broadcast live to the participating cinemas and will also be available on the KVIFF.TV platform. The collection of films will be complemented by the British film Boiling Point. The Boiling Point received special recognition for actress Vinette Robinson from the KV IFF and also scored significantly in the audience
vote. Apart from Tady Vary, Boiling Point will probably not be seen on Czech cinemas at all.

As a tribute to the acting legend Jean-Paul Belmond, this year, Tady Vary will screen the cult Man from Acapulco with the original Czech dubbing.
