The show “Dziesma dejo. Deja skan” returns with a new epic

The audience will have the opportunity to experience “Dziesma dejo. Deja skan” dance dance “Düna”, which will be performed on August 8 and 9 at the Mežapark Main Stage. The organizers are opening applications for participants – this time choirs are invited and dance groups, as well as folklore ensembles and unfamiliar folk dance dancers, highlighting the roots of a non-professional art and giving the dance an identity.

Duna is one of the oldest names on the Daugava, which also reflects the repertoire that is particularly suitable for the occasion. The artistic directors of the dance epic are Agris Daniļevičs and Mārtiņš Klišāns, Uģis Prauliņš is the manager of the musical part. The organizers invite everyone who wants to be part of this ambitious adventure to apply, the application form on the website of this event www.dejaskan.lv.

Author and representative of the opinion, Edžus Arum: “When the first “Dziesma dejo. Deja skan” to “sit down”, I realized that our team still has something to say. It is clear that we will dig deeper, go further. and continue to explore, until add We want to find ourselves – another way Mežaparks is a temple of amateur art, so this time we want to see folklorists and dancers in our ranks, because mouth is the narrative of our ancestors, or where we are. song and dance lived together naturally.”

Choreographer and artistic director Agris Danilevičs: “It’s time for the second date. The first time was cool, and there aren’t that many cool things in the world that have been recreated. I’m really glad that the last major theme is water. Water is my element! As a fisherman, the Daugava has been neglected, but I have to start learning it.”

The guiding direction is the mighty river Daugava, called the Duna in older writings. “The story is about a river that flows through people, stories about our destiny and the time in which it flows. The source of the Duna is found in a black marsh, a stream of the Valdaya Highlands, Russia. However, the stream of the black swamp will turn into a silver river. Through Russia, further through the territory of the Belarusians, the Duna flows to our borders, itself a boundary between madness and reason, between life and death. “

In August 2022, a big show was already made at the Mežapark Stage, in which two traditions – song and dance – were connected in an unprecedented form. In the concert “Dziesma dejo. Deja skan” gathered more than 6,000 participants, including 14 musicians, 63 choirs and 105 dance groups from all over Latvia, as well as 10 foreign choirs and dance groups.
