A member TNI from Kodim 1715/Yahukimo, Papua allegedly shot by Satgas personnel Brimob Peaceful Cartenz, Wednesday (27/7) night. The soldier was injured in the thigh.
Danrem 172/PWY Brigadier General JO Sembiring said the incident began with a misunderstanding at a food stall.
“Temporary information is that during the day there was 1 soldier, he had a misunderstanding with the residents in the food stall, then the resident reported it to the police post. Friends from the police came to intervene,” Sembiring said in a video received by CNNIndonesia.com, Friday. (29/7).

He said that at that time the TNI soldier was injured in the head due to being hit. The soldier was immediately taken to the hospital. He said efforts had been made to resolve the issue.
“He was taken to the hospital, and efforts have been made to resolve it. It is the family of this member who insists on this soldier to solve the problem immediately, including the shop,” he said.
“This soldier just happened to have malaria yesterday, he was shivering, but he can’t be questioned. In essence, that afternoon the village officials had calmed down,” he added.
However, he said, in the evening, a colleague of the soldiers who were noisy in the food stall came to the police station and there was a shooting incident by a member of the police.
“But at night it was suspected that this was still from his family and his friends came back to visit friends from the police. There was an argument and then a friend of the police started shooting,” he said.
He said the investigation team would go down to check the truth of the information. According to him, further proceedings will be carried out if any violations by the soldiers are found.
“This is temporary. Later, the investigation team will look for the truth, as I said, orders from the military commanders who violate procedures will be processed, and we also hope that our friends from the police will do the same,” he said.
