KRISTIANSAND (Dagbladet): – There is no excuse for killing a child, says Talal Haidar to Dagbladet.
He is deputy chairman of the Muslim Union Agder, and is central to the Al-Taqwa mosque in Kristiansand, which is run together with the Al-Rahma Islamic Centre.
– One can think of a hundred different scenarios for an adult to kill another adult. But there is never, ever, any excuse for killing an innocent child. Especially not your own child, says Haidar.
– There is no forgiveness for such an act, it is inhumane and has nothing to do with Islam, he says.
– Lots of tips
– Didn’t talk to many people
Alwan Ahmed Alawneh (46) is charged with the murder of his own daughter and her mother.
In connection with the fact that Alawneh is wanted by name and photo, the police have been clear that he currently has the status of the accused in the case. They have not ruled out that there may be more or other perpetrators.
Talal Haidar says the 46-year-old used to come to the mosque on Fridays, but that he was not among the congregation’s most committed members. He did not participate in the mosque’s work, charity work or voluntary work.

Like several others Dagbladet has spoken to in Kristiansand, Talal Haidar also describes the accused as a calm person with whom there have never been any problems.
– He was a bit quiet and didn’t talk to many people around him in the mosque. He behaved completely normally, and there was nothing in his behavior to indicate that something like this could happen, says Haidar.
Dagbladet has also been in contact with Alawneh’s former employer, who he describes as very straightforward.
The last confirmed sightings of Alawneh are on Tuesday evening, when he was caught on surveillance footage at Kiwi Torvet in Kristiansand. The police do not know where he is, or whether he is still in Norway.

– And tragedy
Alawneh is Palestinian and, according to Haidar, has most likely experienced war and unrest in his upbringing. But despite this, he does not realize that anyone is capable of such an act.
– It is not normal, and it may be that it has clicked for him, says Talal Haidar.
According to Dagbladet’s information, Alawneh has not previously been convicted in Norway.
– The most important thing now is to take care of those left behind, and that you take wisdom and learn when such a tragedy occurs. And how we can take care of each other in good times and bad, so that we do not experience such a tragedy again, says Talal Haidar to Dagbladet.
The family’s legal aid lawyer, Åse Johnsen Drabløs, told Dagbladet on Friday that the family is in a “completely unreal situation”.

Didn’t live at home
Alawneh did not live at home when the murders took place, but rented a dormitory about a kilometer from the crime scene. He must have moved out a month and a half ago, according to Dagbladet’s information.
The police do not currently wish to comment on the relationship between the deceased and Alawneh with a view to a possible motive, beyond confirming that he no longer lived at the address where the deceased was found.
– The reason is of course always important in a case. First of all, we try to find out what happened and who the perpetrator is, then we try to map out the motive. In this case, we do not know with certainty who the perpetrator is, so the motive is also difficult to establish, police inspector Cecilie Pedersen in the Agder police district told Dagbladet.
