Lhe Sherb-Histoire en kayak consists of a guided tour of Lac des Nations that allows participants to learn more about the history of the City of Sherbrooke. The project saw the light of day in the spring of 2020, when the owners of the Mercedes Travel Agency had to find new sources of income due to the pandemic. David Martel and Mercedes Becerra then decided to rent a kayak from their property located on the shores of Lac des Nations. A few weeks later, the Sherb-Histoire en kayak came to life.
New arrivals
The Sherb-Histoire en kayak is entering its second season of activities, and this will be marked by many new features.
First, it moved its reception site to the Armand-Nadeau Pavilion in Jacques-Cartier Park. Remember that a citizen complaint was filed last year since the owners welcomed their customers to their residential garage on rue de l’Esplanade.
In addition, this year, the course will be adapted to people with reduced mobility as well as to all members of the family. In particular, the agency has a new self-supporting dock and stabilizer kayaks.
Celebrations and parades on the water will also be organized during national holidays. David Martel mentions in particular the Fête du Québec and the Fête du Canada, but also those of France, Peru, Acadia and many others.
The Sherb-Histoire en kayak also adds a higher difficulty circuit combining hiking and kayaking in the Huntingville sector.
For those who wish to keep their distance from the waterways, an artistic and cultural tour called The Blue Angels Route will be offered by coach.
Finally, La Sherb-Histoire en kayak will participate in Operation “Local” in Sherbrooke, and will offer attractive passports in collaboration with other local businesses such as the Sherbrooke History Museum, Strom Spa and Siboire.
