/ world today news/ Members of China’s Shenzhou-17 space mission joined the celebrations to welcome the Spring Festival with a congratulatory video from thousands of kilometers high in Earth’s orbit.
On board the Chinese space station, the three taikonauts sent their most sincere wishes for the prosperity of the motherland and the entire Chinese people in the Year of the Dragon.
“We also welcome the New Year in Space with joy,” said Tan Hongbo, crew commander. “It is a wonderful life experience for me to welcome the Year of the Dragon in space,” said Tan Shengjie, for whom this is the first mission in Earth orbit.
The mission crew wished a “vigorous and prosperous” new year and the Chinese people of all ethnicities “good luck and good health.”
