The shelling of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant – the station began to repair power lines

Ukraine reported that work that began on the evening of March 10 allowed one section to be repaired, but external power was still cut off, indicating that there was still damage elsewhere.

The department added that the repair work will continue, despite the difficult situation outside the territory of the nuclear power plant.

Emergency diesel generators have been providing backup power supply to the Chernobyl nuclear power plant since March 9. Additional fuel has been delivered to the facility, according to the IAEA. However, it is still important to repair power lines as soon as possible.

In addition to problems in the management of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the regulator lost contact with the plant on March 10. As a result, the plant is unable to provide the IAEA with information on radiological monitoring at the facility.

Despite this, the regulator continued to receive information about the situation through the NPP’s top external management.
