The Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House: A Historic Residence turned Museum in Dubai

The history of the Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House dates back to 1896. The house is located along the Dubai Creek in the Shindagha area, where it remained a residence for the late Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum until his death in 1958. The building is now a museum that contains artifacts and pictures of the history of ancient Dubai. This house witnessed the birth of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, where he spent the first decade of his life in this house located in Bur Dubai.

The house includes three courtyards surrounded by 30 rooms and four air towers, and is characterized by high vaulted ceilings, carved windows and arched doorways.

Visitors can contemplate the picturesque features of the Dubai Creek from the Majlis on the upper floor.
