About 5,000 doses of the vaccine against Hydatidosis were applied to lambs and sheep of the producers. It should be noted that, in Río Negro, the Hydatidosis Control program dates back to 1980 and in its more than 40 years of history, it has been a model for many countries and regions.
Hydatidosis is a disease caused by the parasite Echinococcus granulosus, it is transmitted through the fecal matter of the dog. For this reason, it is essential to use antiparasitics in these animals in order to break the cycle of the disease and prevent cases in humans.
Regarding the diagnosis of the disease, the control program uses ultrasound diagnosis in children of primary school age, in the Southern Region. This is mainly due to the high impact that this disease has on its inhabitants, which allows an early approach and timely treatment.
