Mach 1 is the sharpest modern Mustang in Ford’s European range. The carmaker offers several harsh editions of the iconic model on the domestic market in the USA, but with European emission regulations it is not easy to defend another version of the five-liter eight-cylinder.
–
On the Czech market, Mach 1 will cost at least 1,649,900 crowns, which is 300,000 crowns more than the initial eight-cylinder GT variant.
–
The heart of the car is an all-aluminum forked eight-cylinder with a volume of five liters. While the classic GT version has an output of 330 kilowatts, 449 horsepower, in this model it is tuned to 338 kilowatts, 460 horsepower, at 7250 rpm. However, the American variant is even more potent by 26 horses.
–
Ford says some components, such as the engine oil aftercooler, open air filter, intake manifold and 87mm diameter throttles, have Mach 1 in common with the Mustang Shelby GT350, sold in North America.
–
There will be a choice between a six-speed manual transmission and a ten-speed automatic, for which 70,000 are paid extra. The manual box is equipped with a two-plate clutch, so it should withstand aggressive changes of gears at high speeds, including upshifting without accelerating.
–
Designers have also worked to improve the car’s aerodynamics, with the Mach 1 creating 22 percent more downforce than the Mustang GT. For example, the rear diffuser is again taken from the Shelby GT500.
–
The Czech Ford has already launched orders, the first cars should appear at Czech dealers in May next year.
