The Medical Oncology Service diagnoses between 175 and 200 new cases of breast cancer patients every year. “Although the incidence of new diagnosed cases is increasing, the treatments currently applied are more advanced to address the disease,” stated the head of the Breast Unit at the Severo Ochoa Hospital, María José Echarri.
The AECC coordination at the Severo Ochoa Hospital has been carrying out this initiative for six years. With the Zumba Rosa class, its coordinator, Paloma Barba, seeks to make visible and raise awareness, with the help of music and dance and in symbiosis with cancer patients and their families, as well as hospital professionals and the general public, of the importance of early detection of the disease and its prevention.
