The seventh session of the songwriting camp “RigaLive” has started

The seventh session of the songwriting camp “RigaLive” is taking place this week, which means that soon radio stations will be flooded with new and hopeful hits. Also this year, only local musicians and producers participate in the camp to devote themselves to a common goal – to create a potential radio hit.

On the first day of RigaLive, the participants got acquainted, as well as several lectures and master classes with local music industry professionals – musician and composer Edgars Šubrovskis, as well as Warner Music Baltics Latvia representative and music management consultants Inese Saulāju-Dobeli. On the first day, an informative and educational master class was organized for the participants with experts from the Latvian Association of Performers and Producers (LaIPA) Agati Silova and Liena Green.

On the second and third day of the camp, the participants are divided into teams so that each has a songwriter, performer and producer. In this composition, the teams will work throughout the day, creating a new composition and in the evening presenting it not only to other participants, but also to experts in the music industry, who will evaluate the potential, format and current relevance of the created single. What is interesting is that every day teams are re-created, thus providing an opportunity for different people to work together and gain new experiences. One of RigaLive’s goals is to create compositions that can appeal to the average listener and have the potential to get on the radio and in the music.

Covid-19 is a guest of its own changes in the camp. This is the second session in which only local musicians and producers participate. It is gratifying that, despite this situation, foreigners are also showing interest and asking when musicians from other countries may have the next opportunity to participate again. It is also a great pleasure that we receive more and more applications for “RigaLive”. Not only the young contestants are applying, but also artists who have already proved their name in domestic music and who, in my opinion, show the wide range and significance of the camp. The participants re-apply for the next camps, which is almost a compliment, because you can feel that he liked it here, ”says Agnese Cimuška-Rekke, the organizer of RigaLive.
