This week, the Latvian Music Development Society / Latvian Music Exports brought together 30 songwriters, performers and producers to give them the opportunity to work creatively to create potential radio hits.
In total, 20 new songs in various music genres were created during the seventh session of the RigaLive camp. This year, the participants also included such well-known musicians as Marta Ritova, Roberts Memmēns, Edgars Bāliņš, Katrīna Gupalo, Būū (Ilze Fārte), Edavārds, Katrīna Dimanta and Jānis Pētersons.
On the first day of the camp, participants took part in educational master classes – together with LaIPA experts Agati Silova and Liena Grīna learned about phonogram registration in the LaIPA data system, with Warner Music Baltics Latvia representative and music management consultant Inese Saulāju-Dobeli , but in a master class on lyrics – with musician and lyricist Edgars Šubrovskis. During the second and third days of the camp, participants worked on creating new songs, which were presented each evening not only to other participants, but also to industry experts who assessed the potential of each song and provided valuable suggestions for improvement to make the song truly a radio hit. . “For me, this is a unique experience, because now I see how the song comes from scratch, for a moment there is a huge ego fight, when someone has to make concessions, but it is always done in a friendly way. And it’s really so fantastic that the team meets, all the entertainment is put aside and there is hard work to achieve the common goal. There are a lot of talented people together and I’m glad to be one of them. I would love to attend every year in the future [šādā nometnē], ”Says Edgars Bāliņš.
