The word chakra literally means “wheel” or “circle”, or a more literal translation means “spin”. Chakras are vortices of pranic energy at specific locations in the body that control the flow of prana permeating the entire human body. Each chakra is like a key that unlocks or opens patterns of behavior, thoughts or emotional reactions that are unconsciously present in our daily lives. They are associated with certain areas in the brain, and in most people these mental centers are dormant or inactive. So what are the seven chakras and what are their functions?
Root Chakra
It is located at the base of the spine and corresponds to the nerve plexus for the pelvis and coccyx. As the name suggests, through the root chakra we take root in the literal sense of the word – we connect with material, earthly, familiar, instinctively reachable things. For this reason, the Root Chakra is ruled by the Moon, which represents our instincts and basic sensory drives. This chakra is awake in most people and connects us to all those things that we consider to be our own and inherent. For many of us, this means a familiar setting and environment, but it can also be anything that gives us a sense of security and comfort. Meaningless rituals, and compulsive behavior, and all kinds of addictions also operate at this level, because these forms of ritualized behavior give security to people who feel rootless.
Without an organic connection to one’s own roots, one finds it difficult to manage in the modern world.
Often times, people inclined to the occult and esoteric have a too ambiguous attitude to the material world.
It is not by chance that the medieval clergy denounced with terrifying insistence everything material, feminine and natural as inferior and unworthy of man. Western culture is the result of precisely this thinking. At the same time, however, we deify the material in the form of money. As Freud noted, money is “shit work” hence both are in the realm of the root chakra.
Stomach or womb chakra
In Western systems, this chakra is associated with the stomach area, in Eastern traditions – with the sexual organs and reproductive functions. Most men do not need stimulation in this area, quite the opposite. For women, however, the womb and sexual organs are the center of life energy and in many ways the essence of their entire being. There is also the relationship with the children they gave birth to. For better or worse, union with sexual partners also takes place there. Any sexual trauma—rape, surgery, difficult childbirth—is stored in the womb chakra. Sensitized wombs are also treated through this chakra – for spasms, growths and pains, as well as sexual problems and loss of fertility. In the womb lies the approach to our ancestors. The womb chakra is associated with the color orange and the planet Mercury.
Solar Plexus Chakra
Located above the navel, the solar plexus chakra is associated with the digestive system. It is there that we feel the “good reactions” and many of those unconscious and peak messages that people exchange, are received and sent from the solar plexus.
It’s a huge reception center and can easily get congested or overwhelmed.
Through it we carry out our daily contacts and experiences. There we feel anger, and envy, and hatred, and self-pity, as well as depression. We can lose all our energy through the solar plexus, as if our vitality is slowly being drained or drained by other people. The state of our solar plexus reveals our relationship to other people, as well as their relationship to us. Physically, the solar plexus is related to digestion: liver, gall bladder, stomach, pancreas, intestines. The solar plexus chakra harmonizes with the color yellow and the planet Venus.
Heart Chakra
The heart chakra or center is located in the middle of the chest and is connected to the heart and lung nerve plexus. As the name suggests, the heart center rules love, but it is unconditional love, compassion, love for humanity, nature and beauty, spontaneity and joy. Most people who respect others outside of their immediate circle have this chakra wide open. It is the center of service to society, of relationships, and of the interconnectedness of all life. The feelings we think of as love come mainly from the solar plexus, not the heart. The heart chakra is associated with the physical heart and lungs. This chakra harmonizes with the color green and the Sun.
Neck chakra
Located at the base of the skull and psychologically connected to the pharyngeal plexus, the neck chakra relates to the ability to express, voice thoughts, feelings, poetry and prophecy. There the process of self-expression takes place or is blocked. This chakra works together with the abdominal-womb chakra, encouraging creative abilities and helping to realize them. The color light blue corresponds to the neck chakra; it is associated with diseases of the throat and voice.
And the last two of the seven chakras
Forehead Chakra
Located between and just above the eyebrows, the forehead chakra is physically connected to the carotid plexus and from there to the musk gland. Sometimes called the “third eye”, this center is associated with “clear vision”. One of its manifestations is self-imposed wishful thinking, imagination and borrowing of thought forms from the astral plane through the solar plexus. All witchcraft begins with the forehead chakra. From there we project our energy outward, especially in the form of thoughts. We travel in the astral plane and are transported to other worlds, to other realities. This chakra contributes to meditation, to the formation of thoughts. The color associated with the forehead chakra is indigo, as are all forms of metabolism, hormones and some uterine disorders.
Crown Chakra
The crown chakra is located at the top of the head and is physically connected to the pineal gland. In the initiated, the crown chakra enlarges and radiates light: the halo of the saints, the bulge of the Buddha’s head. When a person gains the ability to assimilate spiritual energy, this chakra is awakened and opened. Taking hallucinogens opens the chakra prematurely and sometimes the influx of energy takes people where they never return. The crown chakra can develop as a natural result of the refinement of the preceding chakras. This is the result of many years of constant efforts to understand and understand the personality and the conscious acceptance of all its shortcomings. The planet ruling the crown chakra is Saturn, sometimes called the Lord of Karma. The color is purple.
