“The series that made me reconnect with the license”: after 3 episodes, this sequel to Dragon Ball Z delights fans of the saga! – News Series

Following the iconic 90s series, “Dragon Ball DAIMA”, broadcast in France on three platforms, has it convinced die-hard fans of the saga?

It is perhaps the most emblematic series of the early 90s in France. Spearhead of the show Club Dorothée, Dragon Ball Z helped introduce manga culture to our country. More than thirty years after its broadcast, the series remains extremely popular in our region, and extremely lucrative for its production studio.

After DBZ, an unofficial sequel was released in 1996 called Dragon Ball GT. This series was not a success, and we then had to wait almost twenty years for a new sequel – this time official – to see the light of day: Dragon Ball Super. This program unfortunately did not live up to expectations, and the anime broadcast has been on hiatus since 2018…

Against all expectations, a new project was announced at New York Comic Con 2023. This series entitled Dragon Ball DAIMA sees the heroes of Dragon Ball return to childhood following a wish made to the dragon Shenron. This is the very last project supervised by Akira Toriyama, the author of the original manga who passed away on March 1 at the age of 68.

This posthumous anime made its debut on Japanese television on October 11, as well as on the ADN and Crunchyroll platforms which offer it in simulcast. The series is also broadcast in France every Tuesday on the Mangas channel, as well as D+7 on Netflix. What did fans of the original program think of this new sequel? Here is an anthology of reactions posted on social networks!
