The serial killer known as “The Butcher of Giles” has escaped from prison

Luis Fernando Iribarren, a feared serial killer known as “The Butcher of Giles»escaped from the Olmos penitentiary in La Plata, where he was serving a life sentence.

He escaped on a temporary release

Iribarren, currently 66 years old, had been in prison since 1995 and took advantage of a temporary release to study law at the University of La Plata and escaped on Wednesday afternoon. Since then, the police authorities have deployed a large operation in the area to try to locate him.

The criminal known for having murdered his entire family had temporary releases because he studied Law at the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences of the UNLP. However, after leaving on Wednesday to attend classes, he did not return.

He was housed in Unit 26 of the Lisandro Olmos Penitentiary

Iribarren was staying in the Unit 26 Lisandro Olmos Prisona place where this Saturday he would have been serving 29 years since he was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The man, originally from the Buenos Aires city of San Andrés de Giles, killed his aunt – who was suffering from cancer – in 1995, and after confessing to the crime he gave details of other atrocities.

In this regard, he confided that 9 years before that episode, in 1986, he had murdered his entire family: his father, Luis Iribarren (49 years old); his mother, Marta Langgebein (42), and his siblings, Marcelo (15) and María Cecilia (9).

Iribarren scattered the remains in a field owned by the family in the town of Tuyutí, near San Andrés de Giles.
