The separation between Apple and Intel generated big changes in the Macs: it was or not a success

Mac is the name of Apple computers, the Steve Jobs brand that showed the world a new generation of technology with great advances such as the Macintosh.

In fact, the Mac that went on the market was the 128K as it had 128 KiB of RAM, a graphical user interface (GUI), and a mouse instead of the command line. On January 24, 1984, Apple began marketing its personal computers, which had Motorola microprocessors that allowed complex operations to be carried out.

Then, in 1994, came the PowerPC processors from the Apple-Motorla-IBM consortium. However, over the years, Apple made a radical decision and was to go completely to the generation of Intel processors and started a marriage that only lasted 15 years until the year 2020.

In that sense, the Macs used Intel Core i3, i5, Xeon, i7 processors, and managed to position themselves very well in the market along with the bitten apple brand. But it was only until 2020 that such Mac was offered. Tim Cook, the CEO of the multinational, announced to the world the separation with Intel and manufacturing its own chip, the M1.

Initially, it was not well received by many of the fans, in fact, they questioned if that chip was going to match what they had been delivering to consumers and also, if it was going to support computer software, macOS.

The MacBook Air presented in 2020 had the first M1 generating positive opinions from users, advances such as speed, a longer battery life and a fanless or fanless system were identified as it is known in English.

Then in 2021, the 14-inch MacBook Pro was unveiled with Apple’s M1 Pro and M1 Max processors, which continued to generate excellent feedback from users. Some striking features were: a brighter and sharper screen, the ability to edit high-resolution video, several ports to connect high-speed accessories such as displays or even storage, and finally, a much longer battery, something that has been around for several years. Apple stands out; so imagine now how much longer a Mac is running to be able to do all the necessary tasks.

Regarding operation, it was definitely the best decision at the moment, now, in the financial field, there are also figures that support these comments. Tim Cook said that this year in the second fiscal quarter, the M1 chip helped drive 70.1% growth in Apple’s Mac revenue, which reached $ 9.1 billion during that quarter.

Nowadays, there was a minimal slowdown and Mac revenue only grew 1.6%, but this was not due to a malfunction of the chip but because of the crisis in the industry generated by the lack of components for technology equipment around the world.

In fact, having separated from Intel has meant that Apple is commanding the production of its own chips and does not depend on other companies, which are also suffering from the crisis, as is the case with Intel.

Thus, Apple has shown that it has all the elements so far to continue creating its own equipment and software. What’s more, it is expected that the virtual reality headsets that are going to be presented next year by Jobs’s company, will also have their own components and be integrated into the VR glasses to properly manage the battery.
