Here is the statement made by the academic union EMU-SEN;
We have emphasized in our previous statements that we have entered a period in which the Collective Bargaining Agreement, laws and regulations are violated through illegal practices.
Unfortunately, despite all our warnings, the Board of Directors of the Foundation made a proposal to amend the Staff and Working Regulations of Academic Staff, from the expression “The Regulation on Performance Development, Measurement and Evaluation of Academic Staff, which will be proposed by the Senate and decided by the Board of Trustees…” The Council of Ministers, which tried to disable the Senate by removing the phrase “and to be proposed by the Senate”, approved this change and published it in the Official Gazette.
This change is against the EMU Foundation Law. In addition, it is theoretically and practically wrong to disable the Senate on a subject such as the “Performance Development, Measurement and Evaluation Regulation of Academic Staff”.
The only solution for the VYK to be dissatisfied with the work of the Rectorate is not for the VYK to assume the duties and responsibilities of the Rectorate and/or the Senate.
The solution to the financial and administrative problems experienced by the university is not to disable the administrative structures in the university, but to ensure that these administrative structures work effectively by the VYK. The most important task of the VYK is to ensure that the administrative mechanisms of the university work effectively and efficiently.
Unfortunately, the chance of our university to overcome the serious problems it is experiencing today is getting smaller every day with this management approach. Our concerns for the future of the university continue to increase.
Our union had previously said that instead of following the process, all authorized bodies should find solutions to the problems of the university in a timely manner and away from populism, otherwise there would be outside interventions. There is proof of that today.
that plunged the university into chaos, We ask the rector, who is the source of the problem, not the solution: The Senate, of which you are president, has been deprived of its authority on an important issue. What do you say to this? Are you responsible for this, and how will you protect the honor of the Senate now?
Our union will bring all practices contrary to the TiS, laws and regulations to the judiciary. At EMU, no one should allow unlawfulness and everyone should act in accordance with the legislation.
We would like to warn the VYK and the Government that solving the financial and administrative problems of EMU will not be possible by regressing the democratic and autonomous structure of the university, but by developing it and implementing effective supervision mechanisms.
