The Security Council holds an emergency session to discuss developments in Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates reported that the UN Security Council will hold an emergency closed session today, Thursday, at the joint request of the State of Palestine and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, to discuss Israeli violations of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The ministry indicated, in a statement, that this request came with the support of the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of China.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry affirmed that these attacks and incursions fall within the framework of an official Israeli decision to perpetuate the temporal division of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque until it is divided spatially, and within the operations of Israelization and Judaization of Jerusalem, imposing control over it and emptying it of Palestinian citizens, and changing the historical and legal status in Jerusalem and its sanctities.

The statement added: “This request comes after the brutal attack by the occupation forces against the worshipers and seclusion in the Al-Qibli Mosque, and after they beat and dragged them to get them out of the mosque and from the Haram al-Sharif and empty it completely, in preparation for the storming of settlers in large numbers to perform the Talmudic prayers and in order to slaughter the offerings.” Inside Al-Aqsa Mosque.

And the Palestinian Ministry noted that “what happened last night and the repeated storming of this night are evidence of the ugliness of the crime, the horrific event, and the seriousness of the attacks that the occupation forces carried out against Muslim worshipers in a holy place originally designated for Muslim prayer.”

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry affirmed the continuation of its diplomatic and political efforts to stop the Israeli attacks and put an end to the crimes of the occupation.
