After Genoa-Porto Torres and Civitavecchia-Olbia, another of the main maritime connections to Sardinia is about to skip.
In fact, we are moving towards the suspension of the Civitavecchia-Cagliari section, from 13 September there will be no ferry in service on the connection.
In fact, at the moment the sea route is operated by Tirrenia under a free market regime, and not in continuity. This means that it may not be expected in the winter season due to the few requests.
The connection may not be economically viable as early as mid-month, so the last two ferries of the route will cross the Tyrrhenian on the night between 12 and 13 September
Except for any last-minute extensions, it is the sad ending of a story that this year saw a ban and two expressions of interest go deserted. And there are already the first protests among vacationers who have to return to the Peninsula.
