The secrets of Santiago open their doors | Radio Galicia

From Wednesday, September 18 to Sunday, September 22, the second edition of Heritage Week is held in Santiago, a few days in which the public can visit areas of the city that are usually closed.

Total, 26 guided tours are offered for not so well-known buildings, such as the Old Colexio dos Irlandeses, also known as the Pazo de Ramirás, the Hotel Compostela, the Hospital de San Roque or the Pazo de Amarante, among others. You will also be able to visit secret places at the Hostal de los Reyes Católicos or San Martín Pinario.

All visits are free, but places are limited, so it is necessary to request an appointment in advance. The big day of this week will be Saturday 22, with a session of ‘Conversas no Claustro’, at 19:00, a special visit to San Martín Pinario or the contemporary dance show of the Portuguese dancer and choreographer, Cláudia Dias, accompanied by Pablo Fidalgo, and which will take place at 22:00 in the Plaza de la Quintana.

Leo González, one of the guides, in charge of conducting, among others, the visit to the Ramirás pazo, explained to Radio Galicia that it was a challenge to explain places that are not so well known to visitors, but acknowledged that sometimes it is complicated find documentation.

I affirm that the initiative was having “very good reception” among citizens. Not surprisingly, shifts are quickly running out and it is difficult to find a place. Some of the visitors assured that they had registered on several visits, and all of them agreed to applaud an initiative that “allows to know the city better”.
