The marriage of the most famous Czech ballet dancer and occasional actor Vlastimil Harapes and singer Hana Zagorová lasted six years. If you add the two years that they dated, they have been together for a total of eight years. What was the reason for their separation and who was to blame for the breakup?
When they got married in 1986, perhaps everyone wished them love and happiness. They made a nice couple and were very well suited to each other. Both were from the industry, non-confrontational personalities who were among the best in their fields. Although it didn’t work out for them in the end and they divorced, Vlastimil Harapes, who is currently celebrating his 76th birthday, remembers his marriage with Hana only in good terms.
“Hanka is a wonderful being, I have met few such honest and conscientious people. We were together for eight years and I never heard her slander anyone. We didn’t fight the whole time either. And that was a possible mistake. It was beautiful until it had to end,” he confided to the Blesk newspaper.

They were mainly motivated to get married by the desire to adopt a child. Hana Zagorová wanted to become a mother for a long time. However, a serious blood disease, which she has been suffering from since she was twenty-three years old, made her big dream impossible. “Hanka wanted a child, and we had to be married for that. In the children’s home, she chose a four-year-old girl, blonde Anička. She was with us for about half a year, and then suddenly her grandmother showed up and showed interest in her, so she had to go back. Back then it was bordering on emotional blackmail and it was painful for all parties. Because of this, Hank’s desire for a child passed,” revealed Vlastimil Harapes.

Zagorová cheated on Harepes with Margita
This event subsequently also affected their relationship. Nothing was like before. “It wasn’t the best thing that could happen to us,” admitted one of the most famous Czech dancers.
However, the main reason for the breakup of the marriage was that Zagorová peeked into the opera singer Štefan Margita. “One day she came up with the fact that she fell in love with the voice. So I said, there’s nothing you can do, you have to follow the voice of your heart. It was such a strange period,” Harapes recalled.
However, it must be added that Margita and Zagorová met secretly at first. “We were sitting in the car with Hanka, she was driving, and the traffic light went wrong in front of the State Opera. And we were sitting in the car and a bus was leaving the State Opera, where the National Theater ballet troupe was going on a tour. Vlastík was sitting somewhere by the window in that bus and started waving at us, and we pretended not to see him,” admitted Margita in the book Absolutely Necessary Hana Zagorová.
The singer married Margita just one day after she was divorced from Harapes. In May of this year, they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary together.
