The secret of the Belgian brewery behind the famous Mercadona beer brand

VALENCIA – The Mercadona is the busiest and most visited supermarket in Spain, not only by the inhabitants of the country itself, but also by many foreigners. But did you know that in addition to the products that are produced in Spain, there are also many items that come from the Netherlands and Belgium? And one of those products is a very popular brand of beer that comes from Belgium.

Steinburg is brand of beer of Mercadona with which the Spanish chain markets different types of beer. Most are made in Spain itself, but some come from abroad. One of these is the Steinburg Suave produced by the Belgian brewery Martens.

This brewery, which has been making beer since 1758, has cans of “Steinburg Suave” for sale in Mercadona. It is a pack of 12 cans for 3 euros, or 0.25 euros per 33 cl can.

But Brouwerij Martens also produces another beer for Mercadona, the “Cerveza Shandy sabor limón” of the Steinburg brand. This is sold in a box of 12 cans for €4.20 or €0.35 per 33cl can. Also on sale are 50 cl bottles for €0.55 or €3.30 for a pack of 6 bottles.

And the beer “Cerveza Radler con zumo natural de limón” of the Steinbrug brand is also produced by the Belgian brewery. It is sold in packs of 12 cans at 4.56 euros or 0.38 euros per 33 cl can. Also on sale are 50 cl bottles at 0.58 euros or 3.48 euros for a pack of 6 bottles.

But did you know that the Dutch Heineken also brews beer for Mercadona? However, this brewery does not do so under the name Heineken or Steinburg, but under the name Falke and concerns non-alcoholic or 0.0% beer. Different types are available, in cans and bottles with different prices, with the cheapest in the bottle (250ml) or in the can (330ml) at 0.30 euros.
