Actress Helga Čočková, whose role as Irenka, the daughter of Dr. Štrosmajer in the series Hospital on the Edge of the City, brought her greatest popularity, celebrated her 80th birthday a year ago. He is still full of vitality and incredible energy.
Helga Čočková has gravitated towards acting since childhood. She in Ostrava, where she grew up, she attended an acting club and from an early age she played children’s roles in the theater and on the radio. When she came to DAMU, her dream came true. She found herself in a strong year of successive big stars. Her classmates included her, for example Joseph Abraham, Ladislav Mrkvička or Jiří Krampol.
However, as a fourth year student, she took part in a political demonstration by university students at the majales of Petřín, almost ruining her career. It wasn’t long before she ended up behind bars. Eventually, she took another punishment. After harsh investigations and refusal to cooperate with StB, she was expelled from school and she had to work for almost two years in a factory in Ostrava, where she trained as an electrician.

Eventually, she was forgiven for her “offense” and was able to return to acting. She got a job in the theater company of the Ostrava State Theater, during which she also completed her studies at DAMU, which had been interrupted through no fault of her own. She has also played several roles in front of the camera. Among her most famous is the Hospital series on the outskirts of town, where she played a calculating daughter Miloš Kopecky.
“To this day, many people have not forgiven me for stealing his money. I once stood in line for British cars in Kotva. And because I’m such a popular guy and grocer, I talked to a lady about all that is possible. Helga Čočková’s great love was Slovak director Július Matula. During their marriage, which ended in divorce after seventeen years, they had two children. The youngest lives in distant Sydney, Australia, where he studied computer science.
